We are the Roots (1994)

I had a brilliant stroke of luck finding these tracks, and so happy I did as I have’na heard them for years. These were recorded in the famous Cava studios in Glasgow, in 1994 I think.

The back story is that Allison, one of the backing vocalists got badly injured at work put up some of her compensation to help us make this CD.

This was a big deal for us as it was one of the first CD’s produced by a Glasgow band at the time, as I recall our 50 copies cost around £3000. The ‘glass master’ was sent to Austria to be pressed as no-one could do it here. It took so long for them to do it and send them over that Allison wrote this brilliant song ‘Soon come’ (a Jamaican expression) which we later included on the ‘Pick it up’ album.

Allison Burns and Olivia Enemosser sang beautiful harmonies with the band for a couple of years in the 90s.
